PLEASE READ!!

Until further notice, I am unable to accept new and returning singers. I have been appointed as the Director of Musical Theatre at the McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy here in Austin and my duties don’t allow time for me to teach regular lessons during the school year. I sincerely wish I could work with each and every one of you, but there just isn’t enough time in the day.

If you currently have sessions remaining on a lesson package that you have already purchased, I will do my best to expediently honor your remaining sessions. If you would like to work with me for a single session to help you with an audition, for example, then please reach out to me via email and I’ll see what we can work out. Please understand that I may not have availability to work with you- but i will try if at all possible.

I will definitely be back up and running with teaching lessons again during the summer months. In the meantime, feel free to view my how-to videos to help your vocal technique.

THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!!

Sincerely,

Robert

McCALLUM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

HI,

Welcome to the RCVoiceStudio!

I'm Robert Carrasco.

My Passion is "Transforming Singers into Vocal Artists".

Me as 'Aldolpho' in "The Drowsy Chaperone" National Tour (USA/Canada)

My mission is “Transforming Singers into Vocal Artists”.

I’m a professional Singer (Musical Theatre, Opera, Pop & Rock) and an Expert Vocal Instructor. I believe that if you are motivated to become a better singer, then you can absolutely achieve your vocal goals. Wherever you are on your vocal journey, I’ll meet you there and help guide you to truly become the powerful vocalist and confident performer you’ve always wanted to be. I help transform singers into vocal artists.

When working with you me you will always be in a supportive environment (no yelling at you- ever!) and you will be given clear step-by-step instruction that’s easy-to-learn, 100% healthy, effective, efficient, innovative, transformative, and fun.

My holistic approach to teaching incorporates elements of Estill Voice, Classical and Contemporary Vocal Styles Training, Speech Rehabilitation, Vocal Anatomy, Pilates, Yoga, Alexander Technique, Dance, my Professional Performance Experience, Martial Arts, Freestyle Skateboarding, and the Pareto Principle (the “80/20 rule”).

In addition to private lessons, I offer free singing exercise videos, present vocal workshops(in person & online), and vocal masterclasses. In addition, I host “Vocal Magic Mondays” on Instagram @RCVoiceStudio.

“I’ve had a lot of vocal teachers and coaches over the years and Robert is one that has the most to do with fundamentally making a difference in my skills as a singer- and as a result, has given my voice wings!! He’s not only a very funny and nice guy, but he explains the voice and the mechanics of the voice in ways that are clear and concise...and you’ll never forget!”
— Patric Knight (Dancer, Singer, Actor)

Is the RCVoiceStudio the right fit for you?

If you have clear singing goals and are 100% motivated to achieve them… then YES! You're in the right place!

I can help singers of all experience and talent levels, musical styles, and ages to reach their goals.

Examples of goals include:

  • Becoming a Professional Singer

  • Preparing for Auditions (musical, opera, concert, college, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, etc.)

  • Preparing for your Studio Recording Session

  • Preparing a Role for a musical

  • Getting your Voice Back Into Shape and Reducing Vocal Fatigue

  • Keeping your Voice Healthy while on tour

  • Adjusting and Navigating through the ‘Male Adolescent Vocal Change”

  • Sing for your Wedding Anniversary or Rocking your Favorite Song for Karaoke

We may not be a great fit if:

  • You (or your child) are simply "exploring the idea of maybe wanting to sing”. For very young children in particular, I often will refer them to music classes that offer a wide range of musical experiences until they are focused on improving their singing.

  • You are Not Motivated To Put Forth Consistent Effort to Improve your Singing outside of your normal lesson. I offer free online instructional videos to help you train at your convenience between lessons. However, many students- especially very young singers- don’t realize the consistent focus and effort it takes to improve their singing and can often get easily discouraged.

  • Your singing goals aren’t clear. Singing is a lifelong pursuit, so having clear goals or milestones is essential for overall success.

Singers with clear singing goals tend to fit best with my teaching.

I’d love to chat with you about YOUR singing goals!

Shoot a me a message and we’ll set up a free 15 online video chat to discuss your singing goals, get to know each other, and see if we’re a good fit. I’m even happy to refer you to another great teacher if we feel it’s in your best interest!

“Thanks so much for the wonderful session today Robert. Afterwards, I sang for 90 minutes using all the techniques we talked about- and my throat feels better than before I started!”

My Story...

Me as Inspector Javert in Les Miserables performing "Stars". HI

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far, away......

I started out as a Choral Singer.  Then I trained diligently to become an Operatic Tenor & Classical Concert Soloist. I toured Eastern Europe, the USA, and performed with the Los Angeles Opera Chorus. I've even shared the stage with legends like Placido Domingo and Bobby McFerrin.

In New York City I decided to expand my career into Musical Theatre and ultimately performed in National Tours(USA/Canada), Regional Theatres, and Off-Broadway. Touring the USA/Canada while performing the role of Aldolpho in the hit musical The Drowsy Chaperone is perhaps my favorite role of all time! I've also sung in the recording studio for several original cast musical theatre albums (Williamsburg! The Musical & Eva Del Barrio) and indie albums(Agua Trip: Genetics). For over 20+ years I've been able to keep my own voice healthy, consistent, and constantly improving. I'm proud to say that I have never missed a performance due to illness- even when performing nearly every night while on tour!

My inspiration to help other singers originally came from classical style voice training with the amazing Fred Carama. He saved my singing career from almost ending due to poor vocal techniques I'd learned from other teachers. He showed me how to connect to my true sound and keep it healthy.

I was later trained in the art of teaching singers through Holistic Vocology (taught by the amazing Tom Burke-NYC and Robert Sussuma-NYC). My holistic teaching approach incorporates the elements of Estill Voice Training (Levels I & II), classical and contemporary styles training, speech rehabilitation, Pilates, Yoga, Alexander Technique, dance,  my professional performance experience, martial arts, freestyle skateboarding, and the Pareto Principle (the “80/20 rule”).  I also hold a BM in Vocal Music Education from Chapman University in CA and was awarded a graduate Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana where I worked on a MM in Voice Performance.

Now the RCVoiceStudio is in Austin, TX and I'm living the dream! I'm working with talented musical theatre performers, singer-songwriters, pop & rock vocalists, classical singers, and providing lots of audition coaching. I was a judge for GAHSMTA from 2016 -2020 and loved every moment of it. I’m currently teaching private voice lessons, hosting “Vocal Magic Mondays” on Instagram @RCVoiceStudio, and working with wonderfully talented performers at the McCallum High School Performing Arts Academy. I’m super grateful to Joshua Denning for having me join the team for a third year!

Since moving to Austin my singers have had successful auditions with Kids Acting,  the Elite Ensemble for GAHSMTA, the Zach Theatre Pre-Professional Company, Summer Stock Austin and universities around the country. They’ve performed starring roles in West Side Story (Adderly School), In The Heights and Bring It On(Summer Stock Austin), and earned nominations & awards for GAHSMTA.

When I'm not helping transform singers into inspired vocal artists, I spend my free time practicing old-school flatland freestyle skateboarding tricks, rereading Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings, taking hikes & watching The Voice with my beautiful wife Sarah.
